About
Leagued is a platform designed to connect sports enthusiasts, making it easier for players of all skill levels to find teams, players, and venues in local communities. Launched in July 2023, Leagued addresses the common challenges of locating fellow sports enthusiasts and organizing games, while helping sports facilities more easily coordinate leagues through a centralized online hub.
How they use Cloudflare
The Leagued platform is powered by Cloudflare’s developer tools, with Workers at the core of their infrastructure. Leagued uses Workers to proxy API requests, coordinate data across sports clubs, and automate container operations in Azure. Workers also handle web scraping, gathering publicly available data and storing it temporarily in Workers KV until it expires or requires a refresh.
For frontend hosting, Leagued uses Cloudflare Pages to run their VUE (Nuxt.js) based website and applications. They are currently using Cloudflare Images to host and optimize image assets such as homepage and profile images. Although Leagued hasn’t started using R2 storage yet, they plan to host documents and shared files between facilities and teams there in the future.
Additionally, they plan to add Durable Objects to further enhance their services, and continue to rely on Cloudflare’s DNS services and edge features to optimize their overall system.
Why Cloudflare?
“Choosing Cloudflare as our serverless provider for launching Leagued was a no-brainer. We've always relied on Cloudflare for DNS services, and the simplicity and power of their edge features made it an easy decision to go all in. Workers KV, for example, took just 15 minutes to get up and running, making it incredibly efficient to commit data to the Key-Value Store. The ability to quickly spin up a Worker, deploy it to production, and scale effortlessly has been invaluable. Cloudflare's unified stack of powerful tools allows us to build and maintain with ease."
